Directions: Please use these directions as GPS is not dependable. FROM Monterey: Head north on Rt. 220. At Forks of Water (Ginseng Mt. Store), take a left onto Rt. 642. Continue on this road until you reach Blue Grass (3-way stop sign). At this point, the route number changes to Rt. 640 (Blue Grass Valley Rd.) Continue straight (you are heading southwest) for about 1 mile until you reach the village of New Hampden (there is no sign for this). You will see an Episcopal Church on the right. Immediately across the street is Eagle Annie's Cottage.

It is a good idea to bring a Virginia map with you.

GUEST COMMENTS:

Bob and I truly enjoyed our stay here! It was a very relaxing time. We will definitely try to make it back during summer. And we will recommend Eagle Annie's Cottage to friends. (Carpe Family)

Thank you for making our first Highland County Maple Syrup Festival a true delight! Your cottage is a pleasant, comfortable place to stay, but your generous hospitality and friendliness enhanced the experience. We look forward to returning. (Ray Family)

Thank you for another lovely visit. It feels like home away from home. (C.S.)

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for having us here. This is our first trip as a family, and your warmth and hospitality have made it truly memorable. Every nook and cranny of this charming cottage bears testament to your thoughtful nature and loving spirit. Luna and Simba have never before taken such an instantaneous liking to anyone as they did to you. In a world where intolerance and hatred threaten to undo the fabric of our society, your lock-less cottage renews our hope and minds and the gold finches add the final flourish. We leave tomorrow with heavy hearts hoping to return. (Gantam, Simba and Luna)

We enjoyed our three nights very much. The birds were cooperative, and we saw many species including a Philadelphia vireo in your back yard. (The Harris Family - birders)

Today is our first anniversary, and what a special place to wake up! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with these magical trees out front, warmth from the Jotul stove, and quiet surroundings. (Shane and Maria)

What a wonderfully restorative, relaxing week. I loved walking up Laurel Fork Road, buying local meat, organic milk, eggs and cheese, Allegheny trout, listening to the river and watching the light play off the stones, sighting my first kestrel and grouse, gazing out at the mountain from the dining room table and going to sleep on a heated mattress. Patti, you've created quite a home! Found this place when I needed it the most! (Writer on a retreat from D.C.)

Waking up to the sheep and cows in the fields reminded us of living in Europe. (Traci and Shari)

Took great walks in the snow around New Hampden and saw a mink and a beaver. Love this place! (Couple from Annapolis, MD)

We spent a wonderful four day stay at Patti's cottage, enjoying the mountain air and birding. Two successful birding days, mostly due to Patti's wonderful suggestions as to where to go. (Steve and Kim)

We got in lots of geat Highland County experiences: Farmers Market, cider at Big Fish Cider Company, playing in the river, visiting the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, and still had plenty of time to sit quietly and relax. (Couple from CA)

What a pretty little cottage you have! We just enjoyed it so much here. The time was way too short. (The Miller Family)
